The Trailblazer-EZ Team from Ekalawya UDT received first place in the 2023 Scientific Writing Contest (LKTI) for the Hasanuddin University Maritime National Week (Unhas Cruise) on July 6, 2023. The Student Association of the Department of Shipping (HMDP) Hasanuddin University hosts this maritime-themed national competition annually. After losing nine teams in the final round at Hasanuddin University, Makassar’s Faculty of Engineering, the Trailblazer-EZ Team triumphed this year.
Ekalawya UDT is an autonomous competitive research team created by Naval Architecture students to pursue sustainable marine design and technological advances. UDT Ekalawya won the 2022 National Unmanned Fast Boat Contest (KKTCBN) for HSSV Ship Design. The Trailblazer-EZ Team and the Saamudra-EZ Team were Ekalawya UDT’s LKTI finalists at this year’s Unhas Cruise. The Trailblazer-EZ Team won.
Dimas Bosty Alfarizki, Raichi Gunawan, and Jefri Tanjung Wibisono from Marine Engineering presented Tobieco-park, an eco-tourism proposal for Wakatobi, during this year’s Unhas Cruise. Wakatobi tourist development will concentrate on establishing a cultural education park and energizing coral reefs with ocean currents and solar power in this Tobieco-park. “With Tobieco-park, we hope to develop Wakatobi’s tourism sector powered by clean, renewable energy,” stated Trailblazer-EZ Team leader Dimas Bosty Alfarizki.
Dimas said that the Trailblazer-EZ Team’s 2023 Unhas Cruise LKTI success was a result of everyone’s efforts and prayers, especially the UDT Ekalawya Team, the team’s parent. With this success, he hopes Faculty of Engineering students may continue to study and grow to serve the Department, Faculty, and University well. “The hope is that students can continue to learn and develop, not only as self-development, but also ingrained in their hearts that this is a form of dedication both for themselves and for the Department, Faculty, and the reputation of the campus,” he added.
Anugrah Hidayat, head of Ekalawya UDT, stated that the Trailblazer-EZ team’s performance may be excellent for the UDT squad, which still needs Undip’s backing. He expects the Ekalawya team will grow and get more academic money. Because marine concerns need multidisciplinary teamwork, I hope Ekalawya may grow and reach other departments. “We also ask the University to facilitate the flow of funds in the competitions we will participate in later, both nationally and internationally,” added Anugrah.
