September 12, 2025, Surabaya — As an active contribution to maritime research, the research team from the Naval Architecture Study Program, Diponegoro University, under the group Ekalawya UDT, proudly achieved two remarkable accomplishments at the SAMPAN 2025 event. The competition was organized by the Student Association of Naval Architecture, ITS, carrying the theme “Ocean Serenade: Endless Symphony of the Horizon.”

SAMPAN 2025 served as a collaborative platform connecting students, communities, and marine industry practitioners through various activities, including a ship design competition, a traditional fisherman boat race, and a maritime cultural night. The event aimed to strengthen students’ roles in preserving marine ecosystems while encouraging environmentally friendly technological innovations based on zero-emission principles.

The final round took place on September 12, 2025, at the Department of Naval Architecture, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, featuring nine teams from national and international universities.

Outstanding achievements obtained include:

  • 1st Place in Ship Design Innovation, awarded to Verendian Team, consisting of Miftakhul Naim, Miftahul Asyrafi, M. Hilmi Hibatullah, and Sandrina Abida.

  • 3rd Place in Ship Design Innovation, awarded to Astara-EZ Team, consisting of Arsha Karunia S, Beatrik Mayisa Abelia S, M. Hisyam Rizqi, and M. Ibnu Nursin.

The ship design innovations proposed by these teams not only emphasized technical excellence but were also directed toward making real contributions to addressing coastal poverty, climate change, and strengthening Indonesia’s maritime identity.

Diponegoro University warmly welcomes these achievements as a reflection of its commitment to supporting student research development in the maritime field. Through events such as SAMPAN 2025, students are expected to continue expanding academic networks, producing practical innovations, and contributing to the realization of a sustainable Indonesian maritime industry.
