On Friday, June 22, 2024, Hydrotech Undip held a send-off event for the Ksatria Hydros team and the launch of the KH-Nusantara ship at the Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo, M.Sc. Building, Faculty of Engineering, Undip.
During the event, the KH-Nusantara ship was unveiled for the first time to the attendees, including the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, all faculty members of the Department of Naval Architecture, and several invited guests.
The KH-Nusantara ship is a prototype solar-powered vessel designed by the Ksatria Hydros team from Hydrotech Undip. Hydrotech is a departmental research team in Naval Architecture focusing on ship design and prototyping, including solar-powered ships. This year, Hydrotech has around 31 active members.
The ship is prepared to compete in the Yanagawa Solar Boat Competition in Japan on July 28, 2024. This competition is organized by the Yanagawa City Government to promote unique urban development utilizing the riverfront environment and effective solar energy use.
The Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Undip, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., representing the Rector of Undip, expressed his appreciation in his speech, “The KH-Nusantara is an achievement that deserves recognition. We hope and pray that all efforts will lead to winning and the best results. However, the final outcome is not the most important thing, but rather the process that has been undertaken,” he said.
In his presentation, the Leader of the Ksatria Hydros Team, M. Zikri Ramadhani, explained that the Hydrotech team utilized the Undip reservoir facilities as the testing ground for their solar-powered ship, despite some cleanliness issues at the reservoir.
“We hope that in the future, the University can improve the existing facilities because Hydrotech aims to achieve higher accomplishments and obtain new research findings. This can only be realized if Hydrotech receives support from all parties,” Zikri stated.
