The development of the maritime sector is considered highly important and involves various departments, including the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Industry (particularly the maritime industry sector), the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of National Education, as well as other related departments. Diponegoro University has a strong commitment to embracing the future, which is embodied in its Scientific Core Pattern (PIP) oriented toward Coastal Region Eco Development. In line with the synchronization of Diponegoro University’s future development through educational programs, a Team for Preparing the Proposal for the Establishment of the Bachelor Program in Naval Architecture was formed in 1998. Subsequently, the team conducted a Feasibility Study for the Establishment of the Bachelor Program in Naval Architecture by carrying out surveys at universities that already had this department, as well as in the maritime industry and ministries related to marine technology in general, and naval architecture in particular. The results of this study were carefully and thoroughly compiled into a proposal, which was then submitted to the Directorate General of Higher Education in Jakarta. Finally, the Bachelor Program in Naval Architecture was officially established based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 3026/D/I/2002 dated October 28, 2002, which was later recognized as the official founding date of the Bachelor Program in Naval Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University.
