On August 9, 2024, the Ekalawya Research Team of Diponegoro University’s Naval Architecture consisting of 4 members: Miftakhul Naim, Bella Alia Ramadhani, Sandrina Abida, Moh. Abyan Wijdanatha Fauzi, accompanied by a dedicated supervisor, Mr. Ahmad Firdhaus, S.T., M.T. once again brought honor to Diponegoro University’s Naval Architecture in the national arena by successfully winning 1st place in the FVDC (Fishing Vessel Design Contest) held at IPB University.
FVDC (Fishing Vessel Design Contest) is one of the series of events from the 2024 Nautica Festival organized by the Fisheries Resources Utilization Student Association, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB University. This activity is a fishing vessel design competition between students throughout Indonesia.
In this competition, the Ekalawya Shipbuilding Engineering research team from Diponegoro University presented the KM.CAROLINE ship design with an overall length of 19.9 m, width of 6.9 m, height of 2.26 m, displacement of 86.6 tons. This ship is designed using a catamaran hull with handline automation that complies with the regulations of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for fishing gear on fishing vessels in Donggala Waters. The application of the Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) and Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) systems using energy from batteries and solar panels helps answer the challenges of designing fishing vessels with high efficiency and environmentally friendly.
