The Department of Naval Architecture has received exciting news once again. Dedi Setyawan, a 2020 cohort student from the Naval Architecture program at Diponegoro University, has won the Favorite Title in the 2024 Kenang Kota Semarang competition.
Denok Kenang Kota Semarang is an annual event held by the Semarang City Government to select tourism ambassadors. This year, the event featured 400 talented participants competing for the titles of Denok (female tourism ambassador) and Kenang (male tourism ambassador). The Grand Final night was held on May 18, 2024, at Taman Indonesia Kaya.
Dedi stated that the selection process for Kenang Kota Semarang was lengthy and rigorous. He had been preparing for the competition since February. “I started preparing in February by studying general knowledge and Semarang culture, as well as learning catwalk for the auditions,” said Dedi.
Dedi also mentioned that he gained many valuable experiences during the competition. Besides competing, he also received various beneficial training sessions. “We were given training in public speaking, English, social media, and, of course, Semarang culture,” he said.
Dedi feels very happy and honored to have won the Favorite Title of Kenang this year. For him, this victory is the result of thorough preparation. “I am very happy and honored to be named the Favorite Kenang 2024. This is the result of my hard work and dedication,” he said.
Dedi hopes his success will inspire many people to be more confident and daring. “Believe in yourself, because your capabilities are greater than you imagine. Success always starts with the courage to try. So, don’t hesitate, believe in yourself, and take the first step.”
