The Department of Naval Architecture, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) recently held a touching farewell event for its senior lecturer, Ir. Sarjito, M.Si, who has retired after more than 30 years of service. The event took place in the campus auditorium and was attended by colleagues, students, and alumni who felt inspired by his dedication and contributions.
Ir. Sarjito, M.Si, is a highly respected and beloved figure in the naval architecture department. He began his career as a lecturer at UNDIP in the early 1990s and has since made major contributions to the development of naval architecture science and technology in Indonesia. For more than three decades, Ir. Sarjito has not only taught and guided students, but also acted as a role model and founding father who brought the department to a higher level.
In his speech, the Head of the Naval Architecture Department, Prof. Ahmad Fauzan Zakki, expressed his deep gratitude to Ir. Sarjito. “He is the backbone of this department. His extraordinary contribution is not only in academics but also in shaping the character and professional ethics of our students,” said Prof. Ahmad Fauzan Zakki.
The farewell event was also filled with testimonies from former students and colleagues who told how much positive impact Ir. Sarjito had given in their lives. Many expressed their admiration for his sincerity and commitment in educating the next generation.
In his speech, Ir. Sarjito expressed his gratitude and pride for the opportunity given to contribute to the development of the department and university. “I feel honored and grateful to be part of the long journey of this department. Seeing the progress that has been achieved and the successful students is the greatest gift for me,” said Ir. Sarjito with great emotion.
The presence of Ir. Sarjito who was full of dedication will be greatly missed, but his footsteps will continue to inspire everyone in the Department of Naval Architecture UNDIP. To close the event, the participants paid their last respects and best wishes for a happy and healthy retirement for Ir. Sarjito, M.Si.
