The Department of Naval Architecture at Diponegoro University held a Visiting Professor event featuring Dr. Momchil Terziev from the University of Strathclyde, UK, from June 10 to 14, 2025.
The visit began on the first day with the initiation of a collaboration between our department (under the Faculty of Engineering) and the University of Strathclyde. Dr. Terziev also delivered a guest lecture titled “The Current CFD Research,” which began with a brief introduction to the University of Strathclyde.
On the second day, Dr. Terziev shared his experience as an international student in the UK to motivate our students to pursue higher education. Following that, he led a practical session on “CFD using MATLAB,” where students learned to solve wave equations numerically using the finite difference method and created a rain droplet simulation.
The third day was dedicated to an editorial workshop for the editorial team of the Ship Journal. Participants from various cities, including Jakarta and Surabaya, joined the workshop. Dr. Terziev shared his valuable experience as the Deputy Editor of the Ocean Engineering journal.
Outside of the academic agenda, the fourth day was filled with a trip. We took him to see the traditional coffee-making process in Banaran, visit Borobudur Temple, and enjoy the evening atmosphere in Malioboro, Yogyakarta.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Momchil Terziev for his visit and invaluable contributions. We hope he enjoyed his time in Semarang, Indonesia.
