Insanu Abdilla Cendikia Abar, a 2011 Naval Architecture Undergraduate Study Programs alumnus of Universitas Diponegoro, has carved an impressive career path in the maritime and energy sectors, currently serving as an Inspector at PT Pertamina Marine Engineering. His journey reflects dedication, adaptability, and a commitment to advancing Indonesia’s energy industry.

Insanu’s career began in 2015 as a Project Planning & Control specialist, focusing on the construction of pioneer vessels, where he honed his skills in project planning and scheduling. In 2016, he pursued a Master’s degree in Naval Architecture at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) to strengthen his academic and professional expertise. By 2017, he joined ITS’s NaSDEC (National Ship Design and Engineering Center) Techno Park, serving as Lead Training Software and contributing to ship design development and maritime software training.

In 2019, Insanu was selected for PT Pertamina’s Professional Guidance Program (BPS), marking a significant step in his career. The following year, he took on the role of Junior Ship Chartering in Pertamina’s Logistic Supply Chain Directorate, managing the procurement of chartered vessels to support domestic tanker operations. In 2021, he transitioned to PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental as a Junior Subsea Engineering Services specialist, overseeing technical engineering for mooring facilities across Pertamina’s operational regions.

Since 2024, Insanu has served as an Inspector for Underwater Services at Pertamina Marine Engineering, a subsidiary of Pertamina Group. His primary responsibility involves supervising and inspecting the maintenance and repair of mooring facilities, such as Single Point Mooring, Submarine Pipelines, and Conventional Buoy Mooring systems. These efforts ensure smoother, more reliable, and efficient energy distribution across Indonesia, directly contributing to national energy resilience and supporting social welfare through equitable energy access.

Reflecting on the challenges in the industry, Insanu highlights the need for agility in adapting to market dynamics and domestic policies. He emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and continuous innovation to address internal challenges, such as operational efficiency and human resource development, as well as external factors like regulatory changes, technological advancements, and global competition. “Companies must not only be responsive to change but also proactive in creating added value and enhancing competitiveness,” he notes.

Insanu advises students to build strong character and clear specialization in their fields to stand out in the workforce. “Curiosity, resilience, adaptability, and responsible leadership are essential qualities that not only drive individual career growth but are also highly valued by industry stakeholders,” he shares. Insanu’s journey exemplifies how dedication, continuous learning, and strategic expertise can lead to significant contributions to Indonesia’s energy sector.
